Driving Question:

How can writing a press release bring insight about a story's events?

Description:

In this project, students write press releases about an event in The Giver by Lois Lowry. The project leads students through how to write a press release and provides example press releases. In understanding an event and the points of view of an event, students reach a deeper understanding of the characters, the time, and most importantly, the author's intent in writing the events of the story.
