The “golden rule” is expressed by cultures all over the world, not just in the Bible. This activity is designed to show both a unity of cultures in the different ways this sentiment is expressed and also remind the students that they want to treat their fellow students how they themselves want to be treated. I have included at the end of each quote where the quote comes from. Just a note: The Book of Tobit is found in Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Bibles, but not in Protestant Bibles which is why I differentiate between the “Bible” and the “Catholic Bible.” I have also given an option at the end of the lesson for students to switch their quote if they wish. I know some of these quotes come from religious sources and do not want students to feel they are being forced to adhere to a religion they do not believe in. You are welcome to do what you wish of course.
