Are you looking for a yearlong way to get your students to know more about our country? This project idea has been around for awhile in various forms, so I decided to create one in my own style. Students can have the whole year to get through the six different stages of this project at their own individual pace. At my grade level, we teach US history, so often times students accomplish the different parts as we learn about them in class. Students can use the charts to keep track of their progress (we keep everything in a folder for the year). Students who earn this award can receive the certificate. I also give my students some US flag school supplies!
Write the Pledge of Allegiance, in cursive from memory, with correct spelling and punctuation.
Recite, by memory, the 50 states and capitals in alphabetical order.
Recite the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States from memory.
Recite or sing the first verse of The Star Spangled Banner from memory.
Recite, by memory, The Gettysburg Address, given by Abraham Lincoln on November 19, 1863.
Recite, by memory, the Presidents of the United States, first and last names, in the order they served.
This pack includes informational sheets (colored and black & white) for each of the 6 challenges and a way to track progress and a certificate for those who earn this award!
