A few notes on using Montessori materials:
The Montessori approach/method allows children to learn independently, use their hands to direct their minds, engage in their work, and develop their curiosity. The cards can be used as the source of information or a supplement to other resources.
Using the Montessori-style cards offers the children a chance to practice repeatedly which enhances their learning. Writing, not typing, information improves comprehension and recall so all their work is hand written in their composition science notebooks
If your students do not sit on the floor to do work, then the matching cards can easily be placed on the tables or desks. The “new” flexible seating concept easily accommodates children working on the floor.
All the materials are placed on a rug which creates boundaries for students to respect another student’s work space and also shows respect for the materials by keeping it clean and organized.
I hope your children have as much fun learning about the solar eclipse as I did!
