This activity is a pre-reading strategy. Prior to the students beginning The Great American Whatever by Tim Federle, they would take part in this fun activity. This previewing strategy is great for introducing plot, conflict, characterization, vocabulary, literary devices, and thematic ideas. It promotes group discussion and piques students' interest. They enjoy moving around the room and are more involved in small and large group discussions. If you do not have room to move about, it can also be done at students' desks.
