Product Description
The following documentary guide is designed to enhance your students’ viewing of Canada, A People’s History, one of the most popular documentaries the CBC has ever produced. This package deals with episodes between 1929 and 1939, covering Mackenzie King's disastrous Five-Cent Speech, Bennett's attempt to deal with the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, the emergence of new political parties (e.g., Bible Bill Aberhart and Social Credit), Canada’s participation in the Spanish Civil War, Mackenzie King's trip to Berlin, Cairine Wilson's attempts to save Jewish refugees, and the outbreak of World War II. Each episode is briefly prefaced to establish context before viewing, and when it is necessary, key terms have been added. Each episode also contains questions for note-taking and class discussion.
