This activity includes a lesson and assessment to accompany the article called "The Great Escape." This article is a true story of a Middle Eastern princess escaping her home to run away with her love, a U.S. Marine. This lesson is an opportunity to use informational text to enhance any Romeo and Juliet unit. Article can be used without the Romeo and Juliet connection, but discussion questions allow students to analyze common themes between both texts. Could also be used in a social studies civics lesson about citizenship. Questions are PARCC aligned and formatted.
