For example, if they are adding 1/4 + 1/8, they exchange 1/4 for for two 1/8 bars and add 1/8 plus 2/8 to get 3/8. The worksheet provides a spot to record the equivalent fractions and answers.
Note: If using problems in worksheet, students need to work in pairs and each student needs a set of fraction bars. You can change the problems if you don't have enough bars or want students to work alone. Some problems require more than a whole fraction bar set provides.
