A "Choice Box" is a differentiation method defined by choice. Teachers create different boxes within a "choice board" for students to complete based on their interest level. For Chapter 3 of The Great Gatsby, the choices include: one mandatory box to be completed about the Jazz Age/Roaring Twenties, as well as choices regarding annotations, vocabulary, color imagery, allusions, or non-fiction articles. Each box focuses on an important element of the English Language Arts curriculum. Whether used as a homework or classwork assignment, teachers can utilize the ChoiceBox method to then jigsaw student responses and cover all of the content.
