These questions guide students through a close analysis of chapter three of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby. Students work through the text and annotate portions, focusing on analyzing and comparing / contrasting characters, building symbolism and themes, and using textual evidence. Included is a short informative article students use to inform their symbolic interpretation of the library scene in this chapter. The questions can be used for individual analysis or small- or whole-group discussion of the text. They are also great to leave for substitutes!
The Microsoft Word document is fully editable, so you can decide what questions you want your students to answer!
All page references refer to the Scribner 2004 edition.
These questions build on the analysis questions for chapters one and two, which you can try for FREE!
