An especially close look at Chapter 3 of The Great Gatsby!
This is an activity that I provide for students when they read the
third chapter of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
There are 11 pages and 39 numbered tasks or questions (counting questions within the questions, there are 73 total).
The activity includes 24 quotes or excerpts from the text for students to refer to when responding to questions.
The questions are sequential and comprehensive covering
---diction and connotation,
---mood and tone,
This activity promotes higher-level thinking skills and asks students to
---recall prior learning,
---speculate about outcomes, and
---include their opinion of events and characters.
This is truly a thorough study of the chapter.
I use clear font and provide space for students' responses.
