The Great Gatsby can be challenging for students, especially considering the level of diction Fitzgerald employs throughout the text. I teach students how to use reading strategies to discern meaning from context, breaking things down, etc... but I've also found that these bookmarks also help in supporting student comprehension.
This file includes bookmarks for each chapter (please note chapter 1 & 2 are at the end of the file.) Each chapter's bookmark gives relevant vocabulary as well as a short list of concepts to "focus" on in their reading of the chapter (I find this helps students to establish goals before they read.)
I hand out each chapter's bookmark to my students before we begin reading that portion of the text.
