This double sided journal asks students to critically analyze how Fitzgerald uses character, setting, symbols, and other literary devices to develop the plot or theme. On the left hand side the students will record descriptions directly from the novel; and on the right side, they will enter an analysis of their entry they wrote on the left hand side. The journal also asks the students to outline or explain the various elements of the plot.
Some research is required on the time period of the novel and on the author.
A rubric is included.
I had much success with this journal, and I hope you do too. Thank you for taking a look at it.
