I taught Great Gatsby so many times I lost count, and I am probably reaching you at the tail end of your unit of study, but I am curious what you are doing for your end of the unit project? If you don’t have time for something big due to snow days or mid-winter break this “Simile One Pager” was always a hit with my students. I have included an example I received from doing a similar project after reading Black Boy by Richard Wright.

Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
