The Great Gracie Chase Stop That Dog
is another sweet book by Cynthia Rylant. You can use it for modeling reading comprehension skills (character traits, story elements, summarizing, making connections, and making comparisons), as a mentor text for writing (especially Six Traits-Ideas), or with guided reading groups. The book level is mid second, and the illustrations are bright and attractive.
