A literature unit for The Great Kapok Tree, by Lynne Cherry for fourth grade, but can be used for third and fifth grade. The package includes a Microsoft 2010 Powerpoint Show, Teacher Companion, and Student Companion guide.
The activities focus on inference and cause and effect relationships. The activities will encourage in depth discussions about the characters' words and personal responsibility towards our environment. The student power point has nine slides. The teacher power point, which includes notes, has 18 slides. The student companion has 11 pages.
I have used this presentation on my Promethean Interactive Whiteboard. The powerpoint can be converted to a flip chart using the PowerPoint Converter on the Flipchart menu or Dashboard. You can also annotate over the powerpoint as you are using Microsoft PowerPoint. It can also be used with Smartboards.
