This four to five day activity will look at the waste of plastic accumulated during a local sporting event. Students will discover where that plastic travels when it is recycled and when it is not. They will explore how plastic can accumulate in large bodies of water such as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. They will briefly explore how wildlife can be affected by such accumulation. The lesson will end with a guest speaker from the MN DNR, where they will learn about conservation and ways to help their local environment.
