UGH!!! PENCILS! Have you ever had this thought running through your head when you look at the floor of your classroom? Or when you hear the constant humming of the pencil sharpener during your lessons? Well fear no more! :)
There are several Pencil Challenges out there, but this is the only one that I have found to work for me. I print out the numbered pencils, and assign a number to each student. I put velcro on the back of each pencil and then place them on a clipboard to display in my room. Then I write that number on one of their pencils. *I like to give them a cap eraser or a pencil grip because it's typically a second motivation for them keep up with their pencil if there is something on it.* Whoever keeps their pencil the longest gets a reward or treat of some time, but I give out treats throughout the challenge as well. And the best thing is when the challenge is over, reuse the pencils for another challenge!
