This game provides students an opportunity to distinguish between sentences, fragments, and run-ons.
Equipment: game board, sentence cards, markers
Object: be the first player to reach the finish square.
1. The first player draws a card, reads the sentence aloud, and determines if it is a complete sentence, a fragment, or a run-on. The player then moves as follows:
Complete sentence = forward 2 spaces
Fragment = forward 1 space
Run-on = backward 1 space
Incorrect answer = backward 2 spaces
2. Play then continues around the board until the first person reaches the last square.
