Introduce students to LBJ's vision for the U.S. and a sample of some of his domestic policies passed during the Great Society. Students watch a short clip from a PBS documentary about the Great Society and answer questions. Next, students analyze a series of charts and graphs that demonstrate how government spending changed from the 1950's to the 1970's. Students also read a conservative and liberal source that argue for and against the Great Society. Lastly, students use the sources to determine whether the Great Society was a success or a failure.
