PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a four part unit that deals with some of the most important decisions ever made by the Supreme Court in the areas of freedom of the press and obscenity. Included in the download are write ups for Near v. Minnesota, Sheppard v. Maxwell, New York Times v. United States, and Miller v. California. The write ups give important background information on the cases as well as explanations for the Court's decisions. The unit covers freedom of the press, censorship, the Pentagon Papers, Due Process, sequestering juries, and prior restraint. Each unit also has student activities to accompany the readings. The unit includes four guided reading activities, four sets of true and false questions, four sets of vocabulary activities, four student response essay questions, four sets of multiple choice reading comprehension questions, and a word builder activity to wrap up the unit. There are enough activities to fill around four 30 to 40 minute segments of a history or government class.
