This is a free, one part unit covering the 1873 decision reached in what became known as the Slaughterhouse Cases. The write up gives important background information on the cases as well as explanations for the Court's decision. The issues in the decision include the Due Process Clause, the Privileges and Immunities Clause, and the Equal Protection Clause. The unit also includes student activities to accompany the reading. It also contains a guided reading activity, a set of true and false questions, one set of vocabulary activities, a student response essay question, and one set of multiple choice reading comprehension questions. There is enough material to fill one 30 to 40 minute segment of a history or government class.
