Print all pages on white cardstock. (Optional—print backing on syllable pages.) Tape the 3 game board pages together with clear tape. Laminate ALL pages and board. Cut out cards. You’re ready to play!
Game play is so simple... and FUN! Place all cards face-down in a pile and put all pawns on “START.” Player 1 chooses the top card, says the picture’s name, then breaks it into its syllable parts. For instance, if s/he picks “rabbit,” then s/he says “rab... bit.” If correct, Player 1 moves their pawn THAT MANY spaces (2 syllables = move 2 spaces); if wrong, the pawn stays put. Then, it’s Player 2’s turn! Landing on +1, +2, or +3 advances your pawn that many spaces, but—WATCH OUT! There are many “LOSE A TURN” spaces, too! Game continues around the board until a player reaches “END.” This game can be played with anywhere from 2 to 6 players! It’s fun, exciting, and fast-paced—just what my students love!
