To trace the spread of the Industrial Revolution from Great Britain to other countries of the world.
1 class period
This activity includes five games, each with five questions. Students use letter clues to help them answer as many of the questions as they can. Following each game, papers are exchanged and correct answers announced.
Once papers are returned, class members count the number of correct answers they have. All correct answers are then written on a puzzle next to the group of questions.
Answers can be put anywhere on the puzzle as long as each word intersects another word. When a letter is written in a space containing a number, a student scores that number of points. A word that does not intersect another word, or does not fit on the puzzle, counts as zero.
Complete game rules are provided on the lesson pages.
Easy-to-follow Teacher Instructions and answer key included, along with a 20-question follow up quiz to measure student progress. The quiz can also be given as a homework assignment or used as a review exercise later in the school year.
