Your students will love all of the activities that I have included as a companion to The Gruffalo & The Gruffalo's Child. Julia Donaldson has quickly become a favorite author of mine. Her books are amazing and the movies that go along with them are spectacular! I spent a long time perfecting this resource and making sure that I had every activity I could think of to build student engagement and excitement. I am so proud of the resource above and how it inspired my kids.

Gruffalo Footprint Worksheets - (This pairs perfectly with The Gruffalo's Child story!) Students draw and label the footprints with or without word lists.

"Tents" for students to lay beside various footprints around your room - I made mine with play dough - This was a huge hit with my kids and they really had to use several problem solving techniques to figure out the answers.

You will be using the following Common Core standards with this resource:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.1 - Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.2.D - Spell simple words phonetically, drawing on knowledge of sound-letter relationships.
With prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in a story.CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.1 - With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
With prompting and support, describe the relationship between illustrations and the story in which they appear (e.g., what moment in a story an illustration depicts).
With prompting and support, compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in familiar stories.
Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding.
Add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions as desired to provide additional detail
Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.
Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has "more of"/"less of" the attribute, and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
