Product Description
This reading assignment discusses, in very basic terms, the timeline of the study of evolution from Darwin to William Bateson, the man who coined the term genetics. The first portion of the reading is about Darwins theories of survival of the fittest and natural selection. From there it discusses the first attempts to prove the passing of physical traits by gemmules by Francis Galton and how Mendels ideas were those that were finally accepted. This reading is a great introduction to the study of evolution because it gives a historical perspective of each scientist and really gives a basic view into the theories discusses in the early stages of evolution and genes.
