Pg. 3 Roll and Write – High-Frequency Word practice – roll the dice to see how many times to write the words
Pg. 4-5 Color Your Words! – find your High-Frequency Words and color them with the matching colors
Pg. 6-7 My Idea! – use this page to put your ideas down for your writing – write the idea for your story in the light bulb, write and/or draw the characters in your story – write and/or draw the setting – draw the events of your story
Pg. 8-11 Beginning Sounds! – copy page A and B back to back, fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted line – look at the pictures on page C – cut out and glue the pictures under either the /m/ flap or the /s/ flap
Pg. 12-15 S is for Spider! – Copy the patterns on the appropriate colored pages, cut out the body and legs, attach the legs and fold them twice as seen in the illustration – add the eyes, look at the circles with the pictures – only cut out the circles with the pictures that begin with the /s/ sound – glue the circles on the end of each spider leg
Pg. 16 Roll and Write – roll the dice to see how many times to write the letter Ss on each line
Pg. 17-19 Cause and Effect – copy pages A and B back to back- fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines – lift the flap and look at the effect - draw a cause for each effect
Pg. 20-23 My Action Verb … lights, camera, action! – write your action verb on the line, illustrate the action verb – attach your papers to construction paper, punch holes, add yarn, and hang in the hall
Pg. 24-26 I love my hands! What can they do? A writing and craft activity – copy the heart onto an 81/2 by 11 piece of cardstock or construction paper – either trace each students hands and cut and glue them or use paint for handprints – have children write a sentence about what their hands can do – attach to a large piece of paper as shown in the example
Pg. 27-31 Go Get Five!– this game is played like Go Fish – match the words and the colors of the words
