In this activity, students use some creative writing to make a postcard home to their best friend after spending an evening in Harlem in 1929 (pre-crash). There are directions on what to include such as cultural places visited, entertainment experienced, dangers, fashions, etc... I've included a map of Harlem created by E. Simms Campbell with clubs and speakeasies for a basis (Fair Use), but other tools may be used for more research- such as their textbook. This is also available in a bundle with other resources I created (such as postcards to cut out and tourist guide to Harlem)in the same lesson if interested, or can be done as a standalone product. My students had a lot of fun doing this. It's on PDF, but if you prefer it in word, please let me know.
