This is a great lesson to be used in an American literature class when teaching the Harlem Renaissance or when discussing the "American Dream" (prior to teaching Gatsby, for example).
Included is a set of questions for both "Let America Be America Again" and "A Dream Deferred" by Langston Hughes, both with links to quality readings of the poems. The questions focus both on analysis of literary elements and analysis from a historical and social perspective.
I also included a key that gives a detailed explanation of each question. Students do not need to respond in that much detail to receive credit, but the explanations can help you as the teacher explain the poems to your students.
