These activities accompany the book "The Hat" by Jan Brett.
There are eight small character cards that can be used for retelling the story, writing, etc.
"The Hat" is a great story to use when teaching predictions. We have included a predictions chart that can be used as an anchor chart. Simply use the chart under a document camera, print at a larger scale, or use the anchor chart pieces included.
A simple characters, setting, beginning, middle, and end story map is included.
Throughout the story Hedgie tells the other animals why he is wearing a hat. On the retelling page, the students will write the different reasons Hedgie tells the other animals. [Answer key included]
One page writing paper with prompt "When I looked out my window this morning, animals were wearing my clothes!"
Create a hedgehog to accompany the writing prompt "If Hedge asked you why animals don't wear clothes, what would you say?" [Hedgehog template and writing paper included]
The story takes place in Denmark, so we have included a simple fact sheet about the Denmark flag. Also included is a Denmark flag color page.
Students will identify clothes worn in the winter with this picture sort.
