These are not just simple plot questions! All of these questions were written by me, specifically for my Intensive Reading students. They focus on practicing main idea, setting, summary, and conflict skills.
This assignment is split into 4 sections:
(1) Setting: students must identify the time and place of a few different scenes from this chapter. The first one has been done for them as an example.
(2) Summary: students are prompted to write a two-sentence, good-quality summary for the page numbers listed. There are a total of 4 summaries in all.
(3) Main Events: students must identify the three most important events for chapter 12.
(4) Conflict: students are asked to explain one major conflict from chapter 12. There is an example already done for them (the example is from earlier in the novel).
It took my students one 50-minute class period to read chapter twelve, and complete this assignment. Some of the kids needed to take it home to finish it for homework.
Answer key is included. On this answer key, there are little numbers next to each question. This is how many points I made each answer, but you can choose to grade it however you wish.
