This is a bundle of 4 activities I use to teach the Hero's Journey (Quest). The complete packet is 19 slides long with explicit instructions on how to implement each activity in your classroom. The activities are based around a completely obvious and somewhat campy comic I created that follows the monomyth. It really works well with my students precisely because it is a little campy.
Activity 1: A comic that illustrates each of the stages of the monomyth complete with dialogue. This is great for presenting on an overhead, using as handouts, or for a flipped classroom. It is a wonderful tool for initially teaching the concept.
Activity 2: Each of the comic slides are also provided sans graphics. This allows the students to draw in their own monomyth after reading it on their own. This is great independent practice. Since the slides match the direct instruction, the students have an easier time making connections.
Activity 3: All the comic slides appear on one page out of order. The students have to reorder them. This is great for guided practice.
Activity 4: Use the slides to annotate a real-life quest on which you send your students. The slides are perfect for annotating each of the stages and explicit instructions on how to do this are included. This makes for a great anticipatory set!
