This is the 2006 Newbery Medal Winner so you can be sure it is a quality book! It is the tender story of ten-and-a-half-year-old Lucky who lives with her guardian, Brigitte, in the tiny town of Hard Pan, California. Lucky continually worries that Brigitte will someday decide to go back to her beloved France and does all she can to prevent that from happening.
