Description

This extremely detailed five-day unit is a close reading of "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes. It is designed to help students analyze what the poem says explicitly as well as draw inferences from the text. Students will determine the poem’s theme and analyze the theme development over the course of the text. In addition, students will investigate figurative and connotative meanings, and analyze the impact of rhymes and other repetitions of sounds.
