The History of US is a textbook written by Joy Hakim. This curriculum is aligned with the text.
From the introduction to chapter 4, the topic of early migrations to the Americas is discussed. Using these chapters, I created activities, scaffolding, modeling, assessments, project choices, reflections, and rubrics.
Before starting chapter one, students are introduced to the textbook using a textbook preview. They also analyze a painting and connecting poem about the origin of the United States. Before each chapter, there are vocabulary activities to prepare students for content vocabulary. Students use comprehension guides (modified and unmodified) to comprehend each chapter. There are numerous video links and extra activities for each chapter if time permits. At the end of the unit, students are able to research further into a topic of their choice. Guidelines, note taking organizers, and rubrics are provided.
The zip drive is organized by subtopics with the thorough unit plan being the guide.
The unit plan includes standards, a theme, objectives, vocabulary, the plans, and a modification/differentiation/accommodations portion.
