Product Description
Non-realistic genres (science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal) are some of the most common today. This lesson looks at what specifically makes these genres, how they overlap, and considers why they are so popular. A fun, interesting, and engaging lesson to prep your students to read any of the genres. I did, however, create this lesson in preparation for The Hobbit.

My students had a lot of fun talking about their favorite books, movies, and shows, trying to figure out which genre they belonged to.

For duration, I put 90 minutes. I expected this lesson to only take one period (50 mins) but my students got so into it that I had to extend it to almost the whole next day. It can easily be edited to fit your specific time duration needs.
