This is a booklet (a single page folded in half, copied on each side) that compliments the famous Canadian story, “The Hockey Sweater” by Roch Carrier. Not only do students enjoy this iconic and humorous story about the never-ending Montreal-Toronto rivalry, they have an opportunity to reflect on some important questions and personal experiences.
This product is suitable for students in Grades 3-5.
This product includes:
* design your own t-shirt or draw their favorite team jersey on the cover
* complete an “Important Vocabulary” word-configuration exercise. This particular section may seem primary, but the vocabulary is suitable for the grade range and gives their spelling skills a run for their money ;)
* complete three text-to-self connection questions around the following: a special gift they have received, a time they were disappointed,an opportunity to write about someone they admire
*draw a picture of the special gift received
This is a great activity for Canadian teachers! It’s a wonderful opportunity to have important discussions related to character development, all while working on text-to-self connections. This would also work nicely in Faith-based schools as part of a Religion lesson.
When the activity is completed, it looks great on a bulletin board.
Please download the preview file. It shows everything that's included in this product.
