This is a somber, 47-slide PowerPoint presentation of images of the Holocaust. It starts with an animated map of all of the Nazi concentration and death camps. Many students are surprised to see so many, as they have only heard the names of a few.
The remainder of the presentation shows images from the camps at Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Dachau, and Belsen. Some of the images will be familiar to history teachers, but others are less common. Most of the photos include descriptions, and sources are listed. Each section ends with information about liberation of the camp, including dates, the country that liberated the camp, and the number of Jews who died in the camp before liberation.
This is the presentation as I show it to my students. When choosing photos, I walked a fine line between showing the horrors of the Holocaust and not presenting anything too frightening for students. I recommend that you preview it, and if there are any images that make you uncomfortable, simply hide those slides before presenting it to your students. You can do this in PowerPoint by right-clicking the slide on the left side of the screen (in the slide sorter pane) and selecting "Hide."
