This is a PowerPoint and guided notes sheet I made for my own class because I couldn't find anything I liked.
There are three videos attached to the powerpoint: one with clips from the movie The Pianist (6 mins), one from the liberation of the Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp (About 1.5 mins- includes warning), and it ends with a personal account of life after the camps (about 1.5 mins). There are not a lot of photos of death, etc. This is meant to be educational, not shocking to the kids, therefore I think it would be okay to use in middle school as well. As always, preview before you show it, as I'm sure you know your kiddos better than anyone! Let me know what you think!
There are 22 slides and 7 pages of notes. You can delete the pictures/maps on the notes if you want to save ink. Your choice!
I teach Global 9, 10 and US History to Special Education Behavioral High School students now, and I've found that guided notes (real guided notes--cloze notes, not Cornell Notes!) are the easiest way to get through the material quickly, especially at this time of the year, when we need to rush from WWII-on!
I hope you enjoy this product!
