These packets are designed to support English language learners in analyzing various textual evidence from "My Name." The end product is a MEAL style paragraph answering the questions "How does Esperanza feel about her name?" The differentiated level one packet includes sentence starters in the MEAL paragraph organizers and a spanish translation of the text at the end. In both levels of the packet the texts is chunked into smaller sections and provided with images to support English Language learners comprehension. The packet starts off with some background information about the author. There is a space for students to look up any unfamiliar words in the text and record the definitions.
