This is a 20-page packet which includes an activity for each vignette in The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. The first 21 activities are introspective and produce some neat self-analysis and sharing of memories and personal circumstances. The next 23 activities are journal prompts ranging from reading comprehension to analysis to synthesis. I always used the book on CD for listening purposes. The students were more engaged and the Latino accent provides an element that English speakers may not be able to replicate.
A key is not possible as all work will be individualized. I generally "graded" students' work on completion and effort during class.
The last few pages offer suggestions and examples for some inspiration. The best examples will be from your own experience which brings these topics closer to home.
