NOT a simple assessment of plot like most multiple choice quizzes and tests on a work of literature, this 33-question (3 points/question) test on Suzanne Collins' 2008 novel "The Hunger Games" challenges students on their understanding of the work's genre within dystopian and science fiction, the work as an allegory, indirect characterization, character archetypes, inferences, plot diagram (initiating event and climax, specifically), recurring culutural motifs/topics within literature, setting, aociocultural context, style, symbolism, and themes.
It can be used as a summative assessment based on the formative assessments you and your students completed beforehand. Also available as separate purchases are a study guide on the novel, 50-question quizzes, a movie packet/study guide that compares the novel and its film adaptation, and a quiz on the differences between the film and movie. For my students, I allow them to either count the sum of their quizzes or take this test as their summative assessment grade on the novel. Enjoy!
