A Study Guide supports reflective reading of a text; it does not replace it.
This is the most detailed guide to the text which I have seen. It includes:
1. Teacher's introduction;
2. Detailed notes on all significant characters;
3. Helpful commentary plus 139 questions and activities which encourage readers to a deeper understanding of the background, themes, and characters of the text.
They are designed to stimulate thought, discussion and interpretation, not to test. Trust the students to find their answers in the text.The study guide can be used for self-study, homework, group discussion in class, jigsaw groups, formal presentations, written answers, etc.
4. Ideas on grouping students for discussion, feedback and presentations.
5. Four graphic organizers for student notes.
