PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Inspired by the document-based questions (DBQs) from social studies classes, these literature-based questions focus students on excerpted passages from larger works. The lessons break down the essay-writing (and revision) process over several days with a heavy emphasis on modeling and conferencing with students.

This pack includes the PowerPoints, handouts, models, and rubrics for the entire series of lessons. In particular, students will be reading excerpts from the Iliad in order to answer the question, "What does the ancient Greek depiction of their gods reveal about their religious beliefs?"

This LBQ is the first in a semester-long series of LBQs for a World Literature class. Because of this, it is slightly longer than other lessons in the series in order to establish the LBQ process with the students.
