Product Description
A Research Synthesis Report Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements
For the Degree of Master of Arts in Education

The traditional kindergarten classroom that many adults remember from childhood with plenty of space and time for unstructured play, art and music has largely disappeared (Miller and Almon, 2009). Decades of research have highlighted the positive relationship between play, development, learning and children’s academic achievement in school. (Nicholson, Bauer & Woolley, 2016). Play helps develop many skills necessary for success in school including social competence and school adjustment, perspective taking, English-Language learning, literacy, complex narrative development, self-regulation, mathematical knowledge, general problem solving and motor control (Nicholson et al., 2016)
