The Importance of the Proton

- PDF

Description
Chemistry is a tricky subject for middle schoolers and even high schoolers. The atom and its parts can be even harder. This activity has students focus on the proton and how important it is in identifying the element, and to determine unknown parts like electrons and neutrons.
Students learn the characteristics of the proton and its importance. With that knowledge they can apply their understanding to the periodic table and more!
This activity was inspired by a trip to CERN (the large hadron super collider) in Switzerland. Read about it in our blog www.totravelandteach.com and hear how we take our travels into our classrooms. Maybe take some of the information and make the atom relevant to your students!
