This unit is an exploratory Novel Study of The Inconvenient Indian by Thomas King. It covers many important First Nations issues both historically and to the present day for both Canada and the USA. The study is broken down with discussion/written questions for each chapter, an Answer Key, and a guideline for each chapter with more prompts for classroom engagement. There is also a 33-slide PowerPoint presentation that is available to download for free from my shop that accompanies this unit. It provides visual background information and videos for further discussion and understanding. This unit would be great for an English Class, Aboriginal Literature Class, or any Native Studies class. Each chapter of Thomas King's book contains insight into important topics that are found in the Canadian Native Studies curriculum. Topics include Residential Schools, Bill C-31, the Indian Act, Stereotypes, Land Rights, Political Movements, Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and many more.
