A PowerPoint file containing eight presentations for a World History unit titled “The Industrial Revolution.”
The PowerPoint file is 79 slides in length. It includes 8 individual lessons, which in my classroom provides for 13 days of instruction:
3.1 A Population Explosion Leads to Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions - 1 day
3.2 The Industrial Revolution Begins With British Textiles - 3 days
3.3 Coal and Steam Drive the Machines of Industry - 1 day
3.4 The Human Impact of Industrialization - 1 day
3.5 Capitalism vs Socialism - 3 days
3.6 Revolution and Labor Reform - 1 day
3.7 Democratic Reform and Activism - 1 day
3.8 Art of the 19th Century - 2 days
Also included in this download is a 13-page set of visuals and activities to accompany the 8 lessons. In my classroom, students take Cornell style notes on the right side in their interactive notebooks; their corresponding visuals pages are glued on the left. These activities are completed before (vocabulary), during (visual labeling), and after (writing, thinking maps, etc.) completion of the presentation.
If you would like to download a full-preview for free of one of my units, in order to get an idea of the types of things you might find in them, please do a search on TpT for my unit titled “The Birth of Democracy.”
An alternate add-on for “Art of the 19th Century” lesson in this unit can be found as a stand alone download on TpT. Search for “Vincent Van Gogh - “Starry Night” Slideshow.”
*There are references throughout the presentations to DVD clips I show during some of my presentations. These clips cannot, of course, be included with your download. Below is a list of the DVDs that I use:
- PBS: Mill Times with David Macaulay
- PBS: The Great War and the Shaping of the Twentieth Century
Thank you for downloading my lessons! Your feedback is always welcome.
