The Jalapeño Man is a story that I used during our Texas unit. It was a cute book and needed an equally cute craft to go along with it.
I ran off copies of the body on brown construction paper through the bypass tray of the copy machine. The boots and hat were run on plain paper and the bandana was cut out of scrapbooking paper. Once cut out, I glued the pieces together and decorated with markers and glitter pens. The lasso and belt were added with brown yarn. My students enjoyed making these and displaying them around the classroom. You could even add a writing prompt to go with this for an upper level group.
