Product Description
The Kansas-Nebraska Act Webquest and Video Analysis with Key - this is a 10 page document that contains a webquest and a completed teachers key for easy marking. It contains 22 questions based on an online video tutorial and an article from the online New World Encyclopedia.

Students will first be asked to watch a YouTube video which will introduce the Kansas-Nebraska Act, the role of Senator Stephen Douglas, the idea of Popular Sovereignty, and the period known as Bleeding Kansas. Students will be made familiar with the main ideas behind the Kansas-Nebraska Act and the eventual outcome that the nation is pointed towards (Civil War). After watching the video, students will read an online encyclopedia entry which will go into more detail about the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The role of railway construction, the destruction of the Missouri Compromise (1820), the race to settle the territory between pro-slavery and anti-slavery forces, and the rise of violence and Bloody Kansas are all covered. The rise of the Republican Party and the fragmentation of American politics because of the Kansas-Nebraska Act is also covered.

This webquest can be easily used as an introduction to the topic, a study guide, or a quick and easy sub plan.
